(1) Inorganic granular finer soil materials, classified according to soil texture and soil separates classification, e.g. 0.02 to 0.002 mm in diameter according to the International Society of Soil Science, or 0.05 to 0.005 mm in diameter according to the US Bureau of Soils.

(2) Unconsolidated sediment, belonging to the finest fraction, most of the particles of which are smaller than sand and larger than clay particles.
